Human Values was one of the topics in the Orientation Course on Value Education (Nov.02-30), sponsored by the University Grants Commission and organized by UGC-Academic Staff College, Jawaharlal Nehru Technological University, Hyderabad.
The participants were University Teachers from various Engineering Colleges, from different States of the Country. The purpose of inclusion of this topic seems to be to help the teachers to appreciate better the importance and the need to develop and practice values and also to share this value-orientation with generations of students.
Teachers with value-orientation will not only be better committed but would help in moulding the orientation of the students as well. When the teachers realize the important role they are playing, it is hoped that they would raise to the occasion and add love to the responsible job they are doing, and create the necessary impact.
The lecture was mainly in English, but keeping in view, the nature of the topic and a particular point to be stressed, Telugu / Hindi were also sparingly used.
The live recording of the speech can be listened to / downloaded, by visiting www.archive.org and searching for Prof. V. Viswanadham. Further, if the displayed results are sorted by date added, it would be easier to locate this particular speech. The power point presentations can be viewed at www.scribd.com (please search for Viswam.vangapally4581), and / or www.slideshare.net/viswanadham.
There are many other speeches on the same and related topics, along with power point presentations, and all these can be freely listened to / viewed at the sites referred above. You would definitely find some variety and difference in the presentation – as I consider it my duty to make the presentations in a different manner, each time the topic is discussed. This is only to assure you that you can take the risk of listening to the lectures on the same topic given to different audiences, at different places.
